Local activities are abundant throughout the entire year in Ontario, Oregon including
Antique Shows, symphonies, Rodeos, the
National Old Time Fiddlers Contest in nearby Weiser, Idaho (June), County Fairs, conferences, fireworks, and a winter parade. The Illustrious OnionSkin Players, an 1890's melodrama performing in the grand manner, can be seen in the first three weeks in March. Major local events include the Japanese-American Obon Festival, Malheur County Fair, Winter Wonderland Parade, October Faire, American Music Jubilee, America's Global Village, and Basque Festival. Ontario provides events year round.
Recreation opportunities abound in Ontario, Oregon with a local community aquatic center, an 18-hole golf course,
movie theaters, a bowling alley, fitness centers, numerous parks (including one state park), and the Cultural Center. Other area recreation includes swimming, water skiing, bicycling, boating, hunting, biking and fishing. Even snow sports can be found on nearby mountain slopes.

Four Rivers Cultural Center and Historic Museum offers events with a wide variety of historical and ethnic interest. The museum highlights the diverse history of the region and its inhabitants as well as an authentic Japanese Garden with a beautiful and tranquil atmosphere for observation and contemplation. The museum also includes a 600-seat theater for stage productions including drama, music, and other group events.
Treasure Valley Community College
provides educational, athletic, musical, and cultural activities for both students and the public.
